Life-saving Vitamin C

Although we have close-as-possible organic eating and drinking habits, we still believe strongly in adding vitamin and mineral supplements to our daily consumption. To make sure we stay abreast with current research, we subscribe to several websites / organisations who give their subscribers the latest research in foods and supplementation.

One of these websites is Credence run by Phillip Day of the UK – go to Sitemap and check out ‘Latest’ for past newsletters. We had the pleasure of attending one of Phillip’s information sessions during one of his frequent visits to Brisbane. If he ever comes to where you live, do go and hear him, you will be amazed. You can find his speaking schedule by going to his website.

One of his latest newsletter articles contains a link to a video which is a must-see for everyone. I’ve taken the following verbatim from his newsletter. Here is the link for the video. If you are having trouble with the link, here is the URL:

Spirituality and The Brain

I received an email recently from Michael Lovitch of the HypnosisNetwork with the following information.  I wanted to share it with you because NLP works a lot with the brain.

A new study published in the Feb. 11 issue of the journal Neuron, has identified areas of the brain that, when damaged, leads to greater spirituality.  Researchers measured subjects before removing brain tumors – and then after.

To be more specific, what they are really measuring is a construct called, “self-transcendence”.  Self-transcendence demonstrates a decreased sense of self and an increase in how one views themselves as an integral part of the universe as a whole.

This trait is considered, “stable”, meaning it doesn’t change much during a person’s lifetime.

How Do You Filter Crises?

Another tidy-up has produced these notes I took at a seminar, or from a CD, or…..
Cerebral Cortex 150x150 How Do You Filter Crises?

Want to know why this image of the brain is here?  Read on.

All I know is that I have at the top of the page “Follow Us”.

I must say, I have got a lot better at identifying where I am when I take notes, what the name of the course is, or what CD/DVD I am taking notes from.

As you can see, this was not always the case

These notes go into a more general concept of filtering than we having been doing with the previous three posts, but I feel that it places filtering in a very practical scenario.

1. The first note is a quote from Dr Edwin Louis Cole: “How well we leave a crisis will determine how well we cope with the next one: to move in, we first need to move out.”

Now, if that isn’t true!

Filters That Create Our Reality – Part 3

How did you go with observing yourself last time as to how you may have perceived certain incidents differently from others?

This is inevitable that we do, as we each have our own model of the world.  AND, for each of us, our model is right

Last time, we established that we receive multi-million stimuli from our external world through our five senses.

So what happens that we choose to accept certain ones and not others?

Located at the base of the brain is the Reticular Activating System (RAS) (See image – (inside the red circle *).
RAS 1 300x187 Filters That Create Our Reality – Part 3

A brief explanation of this makes fascinating reading.

Clusters of brain stem neurons called the reticular formation communicate with the spinal cord and many other parts of the brain. Some form the Reticular Activating System (RAS) which helps arouse the brain into alert consciousness.

RAS neurons become more active when activated by input from our five senses.  Naturally, this activity slackens off when we sleep.

Filters That Create Our Reality – Part 2

In Part 1, we started the topic Filters that Create Your reality.  This is now Part 2.

We have seven major filters that create our reality.  Each person’s reality is as unique as her or his thumbprint.

These seven major filters are:

1.    Values
2.    Beliefs
3.    Attitudes
4.    Memories
5.    Decisions
6.    Language, and
7.    Meta Programs

Not a single person has the same reality as another.  Sounds odd, doesn’t it?

We can view the same incident as someone else, but we will give a different account of not only the less dominant aspects of the incident, but even dominant aspects and sequence of events.

Why is that?

Filters That Create Your Reality – Part 1

This morning, I was having a massive tidy up of paperwork that had accumulated.

You know the type, notes and more notes from seminars, book summaries, quotes, and so on.  All just put in that special place to file later.

The amount of gems I came across was amazing.

I’m now going to share some notes I took so long ago that I don’t remember whether they were from a seminar, something I read, or something I listened to.

On second thoughts, these notes can’t be from a seminar as I would have a date and title at the top of the page.  So, they must be the other options.

Does this ever happen to you?

NLP: What is Trance Work?

A trance is a heightened state of attention where your mind and body are more open to suggestion. Everyone has experienced trances many times.A daydream is one example, when you are aware of where you are and what you are doing, but at the same time you are focused on the experience in your mind’s eye.

Being absorbed in a good movie is another example. You become less aware of things around you and begin responding to what is happening on the screen. You might jump if scared or cry if you feel for a character. Yet, you are always in control. You can go get popcorn if you wish. How can trance-work be tailored to help the most?

NLP: What is Self-Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a process that increases communication between your mind and body.  In hypnosis your mind goes into a trance, a daydream-like state.

You become more focused and open to suggestion.  There is no truth to the popular myth that hypnosis causes you to lose control.

On the contrary, the opposite is true. Hypnosis can help you gain control over a specific condition.  You can do hypnosis by yourself or with the help of books, video/DVDs, audiotapes or a trained therapist.

But hypnosis cannot be done without your cooperation. Thus, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
